S-OIL은 1976년 설립 당시 첨단 기술에 의한 자본 집약적 사업인 고급 윤활기유 사업에 과감히 투자, 그동안 전량 수입하던 고급 윤활기유의 국산화에 성공한 이래 현재에 이르기까지 줄곧 국내외 윤활기유 시장을 선도해 왔습니다.

aramcoDURA기유와 aramcoPRIMA 기유를 생산하는 제1 윤활기유 공장, 초고점도지수(very high VI) 윤활기유인 aramcoULTRA 기유를 생산하는 제2 윤활기유 공장은 하루 44,700배럴의 생산 능력을 갖추고 있습니다.

S-OIL은 국내에서 유일하게 Group Ⅰ/Ⅱ/Ⅲ 윤활기유를 동시에 생산하여 일본, 중국 등 아시아는 물론 미주와 유럽 등 주요 해외 시장에 공급하면서 국제적인 경쟁력을 갖춘 윤활기유 메이커로 자리잡았습니다.

S-OIL은 2019년에 Saudi Aramco 및 Saudi Aramco 산하 윤활기유 자회사인 Motiva (미국), Luberef (사우디아라비아)와 함께 Aramco Base Oils Alliance를 공식 출범하였습니다. Base Oils Alliance는 Saudi Aramco와의 브랜드 라이선스 계약을 체결하여 Saudi Aramco의 윤활기유 브랜드 aramcoDURA (Group Ⅰ), aramcoPRIMA (Group Ⅱ), aramcoULTRA (Group Ⅲ)를 사용하고 있습니다. 또한 윤활 사업에서 중요한 요소 중 하나인 연구·개발 (R&D)도 Alliance 차원에서 서로 협력하며 진행하고 있어 판매 규모뿐만 아니라 기술 측면에서도 업계를 선도할 것으로 기대하고 있습니다.
