S-OIL(CEO Anwar Al-Hejazi) on June 16 delivered a donation of 565 milion won as part of its Hero Firefighter Campaign together with the National Fire Agency(NFA) and the Korea National Council on Social Welfare(KNCSW) at Hotel Naru in Mapo, Seoul. The donation will be used for treatment expenses for injured firefighters, scholarships for the children of firefighters who have died in the line of duty, and monetary awards for heroic firefighters, etc.

S-OIL launched the Hero Firefighter Campaign in 2006 and has continuously supported firefighters who protect the safety and lives of Koreans, along with their families, for 20 years. At the donation ceremony marking the 20th anniversary of the campaign, the company, together with the NFA and the KNCSW, pledged to continue the development of the Hero Firefighter Campaign. Alongside the donation ceremony, as part of a new program, S-OIL announced the annual selection and awarding of the “S-OIL 119 Master Saver” and honored 32 paramedics with the “S-OIL 119 Master Saver” awards for minimizing disabilities in injured individuals through emergency treatment.

Over the past 20 years, under the Hero Firefighter Campaign, S-OIL has carried out various activities, including awarding the “Firefighter of the Year,” providing consolation money to families of fallen firefighters, offering scholarships for children of deceased firefighters, covering medical expenses for injured firefighters, and hosting retreat camps for firefighter couples. Through these efforts, the company has supported some 3,700 firefighters and their families with about 10.8 billion won. Recognizing these contributions, it won the 29th KBS 119 Volunteer Award last year, and CEO Al-Hejazi was appointed as Honorary Firefighter.

“I’m always grateful for the sacrifice and courage of firefighters who risk their lives at various fire and accident scenes,” S-OIL CEO Al-Hejazi said. “I feel proud of the 20th anniversary of the Hero Firefighter Campaign and will continue to support firefighters going forward.”
