S-OIL announced the appointment of Hussain A. Al-Qahtani(52) as the new Representative Director & CEO. His appointment as the inside director was approved at the extraordinary general shareholder meeting on Jun. 11th and the Board of Directors on Jun. 13th.
CEO Al-Qahtani has previously served as the President/CEO of Saudi Aramco Shell Refinery Company from 2016. In his previous position, he played a leading role in driving strategic growth of his company in the global energy industry and demonstrated competency in a broad array of business activities.
The new Saudi Arabian CEO majored in chemical engineering at King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals and attended the executive program at IMD Business School. Throughout his 29-year career at Saudi Aramco, the world’s largest oil company, Al-Qahtani has assumed key roles in production, engineering and projects building expertise and leadership skills along the way.
As Manager of Yanbu Refinery, Head of Process Engineering & Control Systems and Director of Domestic Joint Ventures Management, Al-Qahtani earned recognition for his capabilities in technology transfer, R&D and facility planning to optimize assets and operations.
S-OIL said CEO Al-Qahtani has accumulated deep expertise, vast experience and leadership skills over about 30 years of his career in the refining and petrochemical industry. “He is best suited to drive high performance and strategic growth of S-OIL at a time when the company is penetrating deeper into petrochemical business and preparing for the new age of energy conversion” said S-OIL.
