Overview
Ever since its foundation in 1976 as the first lube base oil refinery in South Korea, S-OIL Corporation set a milestone in South Korean base oil market which entirely depended on import and has been a leading supplier of lube base oil in South Korea as well as global market.
S-OIL has 44,700 barrels per day of production capacity with #1 LBO Plant (aramcoDURA / aramcoPRIMA) and #2 LBO Plant (aramcoULTRA).
S-OIL is the only company which has full line-up of Group Ⅰ/Ⅱ/Ⅲ base oil products in South Korea and is positioned as one of the world class manufacturers supplying high quality base oils to global market not only Asia but also EU and North America.
S-OIL, in association with Saudi Aramco and its affiliates (Motiva and Luberef), officially launched 'Aramco Base Oils Alliance' in 2019. Under a brand license agreement with Saudi Aramco, the alliance offers Saudi Aramco base oil brand : aramcoDURA (Group Ⅰ), aramcoPRIMA (Group Ⅱ) and aramcoULTRA (Group Ⅲ). Not to mention its business scale, the alliance will lead the industry in terms of technology, one of the crucial factors in base oil business, through close collaboration on research and development (R&D).

Under the brand name of aramcoPRIMA, S-OIL produces 6 different products: 3 solvent-dewaxed products(aramcoPRIMA 100S, aramcoPRIMA 150S, aramcoPRIMA 500S) and 3 catalytic-dewaxed products(aramcoPRIMA 60, aramcoPRIMA 150, aramcoPRIMA 500). Especially, the catalytic-dewaxed base oil, with its superior properties such as low aromatic contents, high naphthene contents and high VI, is used to manufacture high quality lubricant product. aramcoULTRA base oil is produced in 5 different viscosity grades: aramcoULTRA 2, aramcoULTRA 3, aramcoULTRA 4, aramcoULTRA 6 and aramcoULTRA 8. It is a highly purified product with extremely low unsaturated aromatic contents and impurity as well as superior NOACK, CCS quality. aramcoULTRA base oil, a high quality product acknowledged as 'synthetic oil' and a substitute for PAO(Poly-Alpha Olefin), is used to manufacture top-notch quality lubricant product.
