● S-OIL appoints Othman Al-Ghamdi as new Representative Director & CEO
● Former Representative Director of Aramco Asia Korea ??? his second year in Korea with his family
S-OIL appointed Othman Al-Ghamdi as Representative Director & CEO on Sep. 5th. The Company’s Board of Directors approved of his appointment following extraordinary general meeting of shareholders held at its head office in Gongdeok-dong, Mapo.
The Saudi-born CEO Al-Ghamdi served as Representative Director of Saudi Aramco’s Korea office (Aramco Asia Korea) from Sep. 2015 overseeing Aramco’s business in Korea. In his previous job, he built extensive business partnership with Korean companies and advanced Korea-Saudi business relations.
CEO Al-Ghamdi earned bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering at King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia and MBA at the same institute. He played key roles in operation, engineering, maintenance and project throughout his 25-year career at Saudi Aramco, the national oil company of Saudi Arabia, during when he built competency, expertise and leadership skills, etc.
He previously served as Engineering Head at Saudi Aramco’s Riyadh Refinery and Operation Manager at Ras Tanura Refinery. In Particular, he developed insight into the Asian market and global business capabilities while working at Fujian Refining & Petrochemical Company, the joint venture Saudi Aramco established with Exxon Mobil and Sinopec, from 2004 to 2008.
S-OIL said CEO Al-Ghamdi’s ability to respond to market changes with agility, balanced understanding of Asia and Asian culture, and global business acumen give him a strong foundation to lead and drive growth of the Company. On the personal side, he lives in Seoul with his family and has keen interest in the Korean culture.
His predecessor Nasser Al-Mahasher who headed S-OIL for four years and six months returned to Saudi Aramco early this month.
