● On Feb. 3, S-OIL CEO Al-Mahasher offered tteokguk (rice cake soup) in shantytown, Yeongdeungpo, together with officers and employees.

   - The refiner has offered tteokguk and delivered a New Year gift package to lonely neighbors for ten years.

S-OIL Corporation(CEO: Nasser Al-Mahasher) held a charity event “Sharing Tteokguk (rice cake soup) with S-OIL” at Kwangya Church, Yeongdeungpo, Seoul on Feb. 3 ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday. On occasion of every Lunar New Year’s day, S-OIL has held the charity event sharing Tteokguk for ten years at same place.

At the church’s free meal center for the homeless, S-OIL CEO Nasser Al-Mahasher and some 100 S-OIL officers and employees made tteokguk themselves and offered it to people, including old people living alone in single-room occupancy housing, disabled people, and homeless people around the area. In addition, they delivered a New Year gift package, which contained rice cake, beef, tangerines and ramens, etc., to 500 households living in single-room occupancy housing near Yeongdeungpo Station.

“Neighbors in need went through harsh winter since this winter is extremely chilly. I hope that needy people living here could feel S-OIL officers’ and employees’ warm love and that they can spend a happy New Year’s Day this year, feeling less lonely” said CEO Al-Mahasher.

For ten years since 2007, S-OIL officers and employees have made and offered tteokguk to the homeless and people living in single-room occupancy housing around Yeongdeungpo Station. The refiner has provided diverse volunteer services for the underprivileged in communities. On Jan. 20, S-OIL gave donation money to Seoul Council on Social Welfare to help people in low income suffering from house fire.
