The funds will be used for firefighters’ medical expenses and education expenses for their families. 

Since its launch in 2006, the program has supported about 3,904 firefighters and their families with a total of 11.2 billion won over 21 years.

S-OIL (CEO Anwar Al-Hezazi), together with the National Fire Agency and the Korea National Council for Social Welfare, delivered a donation of 475 million won on April 8 at its headquarters in Mapo-gu, Seoul, to support the Hero Firefighter Program. The funds will be used this year for various initiatives, including medical expenses for injured firefighters, education expenses for children of fallen firefighters, and awards for hero firefighters.

S-OIL launched the Hero Firefighter Program in 2006 and has continuously supported firefighters and their families for 21 years in recognition of their role in protecting public safety and lives in Korea. At the donation ceremony, the Company recognized 40 emergency responders who reduced the severity of injuries through prompt first aid, presenting them with the “S-OIL 119 Master Saver of the Year” award.

Over the past 21 years, S-OIL has carried out a range of initiatives under the program, including awards for hero firefighters, condolence money for bereaved families of fallen firefighters, education expenses for their children, medical support for injured firefighters, and refreshment camps for firefighters and their spouses. Through these efforts, the Company has provided approximately 11.2 billion won in support to about 3,904 firefighters and their families. In recognition of these contributions, S-OIL received the Volunteer Service Award at the 29th KBS 119 Awards in 2024, and CEO Al-Hejazi was appointed an honorary firefighter.
