● S-OIL donates 100 million won to the “Heart-to-Heart Orchestra” to raise awareness of the disabled and to support musical training of young people with developmental disabilities.

S-OIL Corporation (CEO Hussain Al-Qahtani) donated 100 million won to the Heart-to-Heart Foundation (Chairman Oh Ji-chul) to help it run the Heart-to-Heart-to-Heart Orchestra, which is composed of young people with developmental disabilities, at its headquarters in Mapo-gu, Seoul on Apr. 6. The donation ceremony proceeded in thorough compliance with COVID-19 rules.

The refiner’s donation will be used to support musical training of young people with developmental disabilities, provide education to improve elementary, middle, and high school students’ and citizens’ awareness of disability, and hold the company’s Sunshine Sharing Concert.

“Harmony created by orchestra members with disabilities after a long period of practice was beautiful and touching,” said an official at S-OIL. “We’ll continue to sponsor them to give them opportunities to confidently communicate with communities through music.”

The Heart-to-Heart Orchestra is the first orchestra in Korea that consists of young people with developmental disabilities. The orchestra was established in March 2006 to develop the talent of disabled young people and help their social participation. S-OIL has sponsored it since 2009 to contribute to improving the public understanding of the disabled, and has donated a total of 1.1 billion won for the past 12 years by holding Sunshine Sharing Concerts (29 times), supporting the “Heart Happy School,” an educational program aimed at improving public awareness of disability, at elementary, middle, and high schools and local autonomies (380 places; some 138,000 people), and granting scholarships to 211 performers with developmental disabilities.
