● S-OIL awarded 34 Hero Neighbors including the late Ahn Chi-beom, called ‘door-bell hero’, who saved neighbors from fire.
● S-OIL has awarded brave citizens who took the lead in helping people in danger for nine years.
A meaningful ceremony was held with the aim of encouraging hidden heroes who save lives by helping their neighbors in danger.
S-OIL Corporation held the “2016 Hero Neighbors Award” ceremony at its Head Office in Gongdeok-dong, Mapo, Seoul on Dec. 15. It singled out 34 hero citizens who demonstrated the righteous spirit of sacrifice to help fellow citizens in danger and awarded 140 mil. won. The ceremony was attended by S-OIL CEO Othman Al-Ghamdi, Korea National Council on Social Welfare Chairman Cha Heung-bong, and about 60 award winners and their families.
At the ceremony, the company presented trophies and award money to brave citizens who showed great courage in dangerous situations. The list includes the late Ahn Chi-beom(male, age 29), who rescued neighbors from the fire but finally died, Kim Tae-geun(male, age 45), who was hit by the car while taking the role of directing cars to detour safely from car accident, Park Dae-ho(male, age 32), who rescued teenage boy and sister from a semi-basement room where the fire began tearing the window security bars away with his bare hands, Um Chang-wook(male, age 25) and Um Min-ha(female, age 27) who subdued the burglar who broke into a jeweler’s shop with a knife.
“Citizens who come forward to help people in danger are the real heroes of our society,” said S-OIL CEO Othman Al-Ghamdi. “We promise that S-OIL will continue to remain a solid companion for brave neighbors through our Hero Neighbors Support Program.”
S-OIL has held the Hero Neighbors Award ceremony since 2008 in order to encourage and support those who save others from danger with their brave civic spirit.
