S-OIL (CEO: Nasser Al-Mahasher) held donation ceremony for injured firefighters and donated 60 million won as incentive to 30 firefighters who sustained injuries during firefighting and emergency rescue operations. On Nov. 6, S-OIL conveyed 2 million won to firefighter Kim Min-ha(29) who was injured due to a fall during rescuing a citizen trapped in the building at Gangseo Fire Station in Seoul.
“We hope that our donation will be of a little help and consolation to firefighters who are suffering financial difficulties after sustaining injuries due to suffocation, falls, burns, or electric shocks while protecting citizens from dangerous sites,” said an S-OIL official. “S-OIL will expand this Hero Firefighters Support Program to try to boost the morale of firefighters, who protect society, and stabilize firefighter families’ living conditions.”
S-OIL has implemented the Hero Firefighters Support Program for nine consecutive years since 2006 along with the Korea National Council on Social Welfare to support firefighters who sacrifice themselves in silence in every corner of society. Under the program, the refiner donates 30 million won to the families of deceased firefighters and offers scholarships to about one hundred children of fallen firefighters every year to help them dedicate themselves fully to their study. In addition, the refiner confers the Firefighters of the Year Award to encourage exemplary firefighters and holds a “Healing Camp for Firefighter Couples” to help firefighters exhausted by heavy workloads to take a rest.
