S-OIL Holds a “Pilgrimage Camp” for Children of Maritime Police Officers
● S-OIL holds the first Pilgrimage Camp for children of maritime officers for five nights and six days from July 22 to 27.
● S-OIL newly established the Maritime Police Officers Program, following the Hero Firefighters Program and the Hero Neighbors Program.
S-OIL(CEO Nasser Al-Mahasher) will hold the Pilgrimage Camp for children of maritime police officers for five nights and six days from July 22 to 27.
On July 22, the refiner held a ceremony to launch the Pilgrimage Camp for children of maritime police officers at the Korea Coast Guard Academy in Cheonan, South Chungcheong Province, with 40 children of maritime police officers in attendance. The so-called “Pilgrimage Team” consisting of 20 junior high school students, 15 high school students, and 5 university students will visit major coastal areas nationwide ? Taean, Jindo, Wando, Pohang, Ulleungdo, and then Sokcho.
During the trip, they will visit historic sites such as the Battle of Myungryang site and Cheonghaejin (Blue Sea Headquarters) and will contemplate the achievements made by their ancestors who safeguarded the country. They will also visit the Memorial Monument to Police Officers in Sokcho and will have time to look back upon the memory of the 72 maritime police officers who died while protecting the sea and fish.
“I hope that this camp will serve as an opportunity for children of maritime police officers to feel grateful and respect for their parents for making noble sacrifices, working day and night in dangerous conditions,” said an S-OIL officer. “S-OIL will continuously join hands in raising citizen awareness of maritime police officers who safeguard the nation’s marine sovereignty and protect the people’s safety.”
As part of Hero Support Programs with the aim of discovering and supporting heroes who dedicate themselves to saving lives and property by risking their own in adverse working conditions, S-OIL kicked off the third Hero Support Program, Maritime Police Officers Program, starting this year, following the the Hero Firefighters Program and the Hero Neighbors Program. The refiner signed an agreement with the Korea Coastal Guard in April of this year to continuously support maritime police officers for the first time as a private company. Under the agreement, it provides systematic support to maritime officers, such as offering scholarships to the children of fallen maritime officers, giving awards to exemplary maritime police officers, and offering allowances to injured maritime police officers.
